Robert Burnette, a Madison school teacher was arrested on the charge of sexual assault and exploitation of minors. 

Though the pornographic content discovered on his iPhone was not related to his high school students, he was accused of surreptitiously filming and photographing them.

Who Is Robert Burnette? Madison School Teacher

Robert Burnette is a math teacher at Madison school who is charged with the sexual exploitation of a minor. Police said they discovered child pornography on his iPhone during a forensic examination.

Burnette, according to Superintendent Will Hoffman, had a one-year contract that ended at the conclusion of the school year. He was in his second year at Madison High School.

Burnette is suspended by Madison County Schools as a result of the inquiry. And is being jailed on a $325,000 secured bail at the Yancey County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility.

"The complaint was filed against a teacher at Madison High School on Tuesday, May 24th," Harwood stated.

"A report was received by the school administration and my school resource officer that he was surreptitiously filming or recording kids. My detectives and the Madison County school administration launched an inquiry right away based on that report."

According to Harwood, Robert was surreptitiously recording and photographing pupils. The investigation was conducted with the help of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Robert Burnett, a madison school teacher was arrested for sexual assault, according to Sherrif Budday Harwood. During a forensic check of Robert's cell phone, child pornography was uncovered, leading to additional inquiries.

The child pornography was not related to any Madison County students, according to Sheriff Buddy Harwood.

But he was charged with six felony warrants for third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor after a Madison County Sheriff's Office investigation revealed Burnette was secretly recording and photographing students.

Burnette is scheduled to appear in Madison County court on June 7.

According to Harwood, his agency and the Madison County School District collaborated to identify all of the children who had been photographed by Robert. 

Furthermore, 3 Felony Counts of Secretly Using a Photographic Imaging Device to View Another's Body or Undergarments were added.

Moreover,  22 Felony Counts of Possessing a Photographic Image Obtained in Violation of the Peeping Statue. And 16 Felony Counts of Secretly Using or Installing a Photographic Imaging Device to Arouse or Gratify Sexual Desire were added to the charges.

Robert Burnette Will Get Jail Sentence After His Hearing on June 7

Robert Burnett from Madison High school will get a jail sentence for the sexual assault and other felony counts that he is charged with. His mugshot is all over social media and people are disgusted with the behavior of the teacher.

This sort of conduct will not be tolerated in any of our schools or throughout the county, said Sherrif Harwood. Burnette, a former Madison County teacher, will be barred from entering any Madison County school grounds.
